What a Website Should Do

Before choosing the platform or the look, decide what the website needs to change.

Give the Site a Clear Job

A website may need to explain a service, generate qualified leads, sell a product, support existing customers or connect several internal systems. That job should be specific enough to guide decisions.

Without it, the project becomes a collection of pages instead of a working tool.

Organize the Information

Visitors should understand where they are, what is available and what to do next. Clear structure does more for a website than an extra effect or another block of copy.

Good navigation, useful headings and focused calls to action make the site easier to use.

Support the Business Behind It

The public interface is only part of the project. Content editing, form routing, analytics, integrations and ongoing maintenance affect how useful the site remains after launch.

Those operational needs should be considered while the experience is being designed.

Measure the Right Result

Traffic alone says very little. A useful measure connects the website to its purpose: better inquiries, completed purchases, fewer support requests or faster internal work.

Make it considered. Make it useful. Give it a job.
